God of War 3 Preview
God of War 3 Preview
Feb 05We at HDWarriors.com recently played the demo for God of War 3, set to release next month as an exclusive to the Sony Playstation 3.
Before I play the full version of this game next month, I felt the need to replay at least God of War 2, since it was such an epic game, and I have been enjoying the story so much. Instead of popping in the old disk however, I went ahead and bought the somewhat recently released ‘God of War Collection’, which has upgraded the older PS2 games into glorious HD. The collection is now priced at an absolute steal of $30 in many stores now, so it is highly recommended.
Along with the two game collection is a code for downloading the E3 demo of God of War 3 from the Playstation Network.
Needless to say, this demo makes the $30 price all the more absurd in its value.
Though relatively speaking, this demo is from an early build, and will likely pale somewhat in comparison to the finished product, it looks absolutely amazing, and the game play is spot on. The exact feel of the series’ previous releases is present in everything from the control scheme, to the mood.
Kratos, enemies, the environments, everything is highly detailed. Lighting and shadowing are rather excellent. While the music on the single stage that this demo provides has that same epic feel to it.
With bosses, as well as mini-bosses, after a certain level of damage is dealt to them, a button sequence must be performed in order to finish your opponent. This is now more intuitive in that the suddenly appearing button appears on the screen in the direction that it is on the controller. For newer and less skilled players, it will make the game easier to handle, while for veteran players, more attention can be paid to the visceral animations that accompany each press of the button.
And my, my, this game is brutal indeed. At this point, most of you have likely seen the demo, and many of you have played it. I’m sure that the latter will agree, that between seeing and playing there is no comparison. From the far more graphic ripping out of a Cyclopean eye, to the horrific, literal tearing of the head of a God from its shoulders, these are just the kinds of things gamers want out of God of War 3, and just what Sony and SCE studios Santa Monica is giving us.
There are few games that I actually want ‘More of the Same’ from when it comes to last gen to current gen transformations. God of War 3 is one such game. All I desire is that it keep its great core game play intact, show what the PS3 is capable of graphically, and finish this epic story of the fall of Olympus. We’ll see about the latter next month, and we’ll see how much everything else has been improved. But as of now, I’m more excited than ever for this game.

I have yet to play 1 and 2.From what I understand is the story line is very important, right?
?I might have to pick up the series and play through them. Although this game looks bad ass I could just skip into this game and try to figure things out,
There will probably be a recap at the beginning of the new installment, but I highly recommend the collection, which is only $30 now. Not only will you get the story, but you can be eased more into the gameplay style, which gets more and more complicated.
?This game is the only reason I would want to get a PS3. I loved GOW 1 & 2. Dante’s Inferno had tried to get onto the bandwagon on 360, but it just isn’t the same as the GOW series. The graphics are going to be amazing on the PS3.
