In this Chapter, Sage mode Naruto continues his fight against Pain. After taking out two more bodies at the end of last chapter, Pain strikes back with a vengeance.

Though aside from his main body, Pain only has one other body to assist him left, that main body has recharged. Again we see Shinra Tensei. All of the Major sized Frog summons are blasted what looks like miles away.

Ma and Pa are preparing to try and use their song genjutsu, but need time. As Naruto tries to buy that time, the final Pain body absorbs his remaining energy and the issue ends with Pain speaking as if he is triumphant.

The major wows of this chapter?

1. Pain reasserts himself as a badass by retaking control of the battle. Never have we seen Gama Bunta knocked away like a rag doll, and we’ll probably never see it again.

2. Naruto has asserted himself as at least one of the top 5 most powerful characters in the series, and that without using the power of the Kyuubi. Pain, as powerful as he is, gave Naruto due respect with this quote:

“You’re very strong… No one has ever given Pain this much trouble before.”

So what should we expect next chapter? Does the Pain body that absorbed Naruto’s sage energy turn into a toad? Does the Kyuubi energy begin to leak out since Naruto appears to have reached his limit? Does Pa frog summon the last body right as Naruto loses control of the Kage Bunshin no Jutsu, infusing him with his final Sage mode, and opening a short window of the element of surprise? Is Naruto truly defeated? Has Pain finally won his 9 tailed prize? Who knows for now, but it’s sure to be exciting!
