Over time, there have been many articles written regarding how the next game in such-and-such series should be created, but few that go somewhat in depth. Since the likelihood that Nintendo would ever actually use these ideas is close to zero, why not go all out? In fact, I truly wish that they would shamelessly and unapologetically use these ideas. These are their franchises, and these are their characters after all. All possibilities, ideas, and potential ideas belong to them. I just want to play the games.

Long have Nintendo fans awaited a new game in the Mother/Earthbound series. In fact, with the history behind Mother 3, this series is arguably the one with the largest number of long-suffering and patient fans. An announcement for a New Earthbound game for the Wii would send up praises to the heights of heaven.
In this final installment in this first Wish Fulfillment series, WiiRincontrol brings you:

________________________________________________________________________________
Story:
Shortly after the events of Mother 3 (Or what we would call Earthbound 2 had we had the opportunity to play it), Pokey has been trapped inside of his “Absolutely safe capsule”; having had his plans foiled by Lucas. Dr. Andonuts, (Jeff’s father from the original Earthbound) designed the capsule to not only supply necessities and prolong life, but also to contain various advanced technologies.
Pokey, over time designs a machine that can absorb and use PSI energy. Unmanipulated PSI energy (Raw, without attack form) is the only energy that can pass through the capsules barrier. He plans to use the energy he steers toward him from Lucas and Kumatora over time to create a portal and escape to the past, (He and Ness’ original time period) team up with his younger self to defeat Ness and his group, and rule the world.
However, Pokey doesn’t understand PSI energy as well as he should. Upon creating the portal, his intention gives the energy purpose and drags Ness’ mind and body from the past into the future, even as he himself travels backward. Ness, who had been in the middle of the final battle with Giygas with Paula, Jeff, and Poo, suddenly finds himself in a strange but slightly familiar land. ________________________________________________________________________________
At this point of this story, the player revisits the battle of Giygas in full Wii 3D glory. Only of course, Ness is absent. Without Ness there to protect Paula, she cannot complete the prayers that lend the necessary aid to the group for victory. Sadly, they all perish.
Giygas becomes unstoppable, and conquers the world, destroying much of it. Future Pokey is killed in the crossfires, but not before realizing his mistake and briefly explaining it to his younger self.
Meanwhile, in the future, a wave of temporal change is reaching the future and conforming Lucas’ world to that of the one where Giygas had triumphed. The wave is a ways off, but pockets here and there open up and monsters emerge from the chaos. Both Lucas and Ness do their best to fight off the monsters and protect the panicking people. Soon they run into one another, realize that the other also has PSI powers, share minds in order to instantly understand one another and become the best of friends, then team up to face the threat.
________________________________________________________________________________
After a couple of levels are gained, a new crisis strikes. Just as the temporal wave passes over them, Ness has the presence of mind to use PSI shield, which protects him from it. Lucas however is slightly late, is overcome by it and is for the most part conformed. In this new, alternate reality brought on by Giygas’ reign, Lucas’ family was killed when he was very, very young. He had to become somewhat vicious in order to survive. As a result, his PSI powers are much more advanced than before, and his shy, timid nature is replaced by the vicious vengeful one.
Since Lucas no longer remembers Ness, he sees him as he sees everyone else in this world. As a threat. The two battle each other, with the player controlling Ness. Defeat him and Ness gives Lucas his memory back through PSI via the shared memories they had upon first meeting. The true Lucas is reawakened, but the vicious Lucas still exists deep within.
After returning to Lucas’ house, where he now lives alone, an adult Pokey shows up and explains what has happened, and why. The ancient legend that Ness was told in Earthbound stated that Giygas had to be defeated in the past because in the future he would be too powerful to be defeated. The reason why this is true is because it is positive emotion that hampers Giygas’ power; and by the time this future comes about, most of humanity’s members that are fortunate enough to be alive are under its negative influence.
The world is mostly overrun with Starmen, Spacecraft, tainted minded animals, people, etc. It isn’t completely though, which means that there are good people out there somewhere. Since there are so few left, to have such influence deems that some of them must possess PSI powers. Thus, Ness heads off in one direction to try and find them, Lucas in the opposite, while Pokey heads off to Winters in order to hopefully find the parts necessary to repair the PSI portal machine in the ruins of Dr. Andonuts’ lab. The easiest route would be for them to return Ness to the point in time from which he was plucked and nip the entire situation in the bud. Of course it doesn’t turn out that way, but the effort ends up helping out in its own way.

In Mother 4/Earthbound: Giygas Triumphant, players have a choice at the beginning of playing classic turn based style, or a real time/more action oriented turn based style of game play. If the former is chosen then animations play out after choices are made. If the latter is chosen, then the in game action plays more similar to modern Tales games.
Ness possesses the basic attack moves, PSI Flash, PSI Thunder, PSI Fire and PSI Rockin, along with base recovery moves Healing, and Lifeup.
Lucas possesses the basic attack Moves, PK Love, PK Thunder, PK Freeze, and PK Starstorm along with base recovery moves Healing and Lifeup. All of these moves move up in power over time, typically ending in an Omega incarnation.
________________________________________________________________________________
Wii gameplay would have certain aspects that centered around the Wii remote. The return of the Music combo boost would play to the Wii Remote’s strengths. That system allowed players to punch a button to music that was unique to certain monsters, and create a possibility for more damage during attacks. Rather than hit a button in sync with a Monster’s internal beat though, in Earthbound: Giygas Triumphant players would shake the Wii remote not unlike the similar beat game on Zack and Wiki: Quest for Barbaros’ treasure.
If players chose the more action oriented battle mode, further timing bonuses such as a Bat swing, or Yo-Yo fling to compliment Ness, or twirling motions for Lucas’ scepter. Point and click function for firing missiles and other tech weapons of Pokey would exist. Tilt mini games for steering land vehicles or spacecraft to navigate the world would also spice things up here and there. Over all though motion controls would take a back seat in this game. ________________________________________________________________________________
Over the course of the game, Lucas struggles internally, falling back and forth between himself and his vicious alter ego. Typically the alter ego comes forth in situations where it is truly needed. But on occasion when it isn’t, he causes excess damage, and further turmoil erupts for the hero. Vicious PK Starstorm is an attack far more powerful than anything Lucas had before though. Sure enough, it comes in handy.
Ness on the other hand has to deal with the fact that he has failed to stop Giygas, his friends are dead, and the world is in ruin. Saving Paula, Jeff, Poo, and the world becomes his driving force. This focus leads to more maturity, and more power. Omega PK Rockin, once obtained makes the Ness of old look like an amateur. Not to mention his trademark Bat kicks some serious butt.
Each character meets two semi-minor new characters along the way and builds a temporary mini-party. Earthbound: Giygas Triumphant switches back and forth between Ness, Lucas, and Pokey as the story develops, and explores the ravaged world; visiting many of the cities that once thrived in earlier games.
In the end, Pokey’s machine is able to draw Paula from the past, but is incapable of sending Ness back to it. The four heroes must face the almighty Future Giygas by protecting not only Paula, but also the PSI portal, which allows Paula’s prayers to reach the past and bring forth the positive emotion from the less tainted
world.
If successful, Giygas is completely destroyed in both time periods simultaneously. Then, Paula’s final prayer combines the power of all of those with PSI powers, along with the machine, and sends everyone back to the time in which they belong. Even as Lucas’ world recreates itself into its Pre-Giygas influenced state. Ness, Lucas, Paula, and even Pokey all share a friendship that transcends time and space. Lucas has dealt with his inner demons, and the world is safe all the way around. ________________________________________________________________________________
Earthbound: Giygas Triumphant would capitalize on the deep seated fan base that exists for the Mother/Earthbound series. As well as the great amount of newer interest brought about by the Super Smash Bros. games. It not only brings together many of the most beloved characters, but also further develops them, and brings the story of Giygas full circle.
There’s not likely an Mother/Earthbound fan alive that wouldn’t want to see a new, 3D, Wii entry for this series. Assuming for the sake of argument that we fanatics number at only a million or a bit less, Smash Bros fans could easily double that and make the game a huge success. Considering that RPG’s on the Nintendo Wii are few, and often lacking, Nintendo could make a killing. Let’s see it! ________________________________________________________________________________
So, with that, we end our first wave of Wish Fulfillment articles.
We hope you enjoyed these articles, and we hope that Nintendo gets the hint!
