Sony’s Motion Controllers
Sony’s Motion Controllers
Oct 07
Sony is not giving up the fight for motion capture supremacy. At the E3 convention Sony debuted a live demo for their newest addition to the Eye Toy line. They have created a motion capture system using two controllers, one with a red ball on top and the other with a blue. This allowed the Eye Toy, already on shelves, to be used more effectively in motion capture and this new system appeared to be pretty smooth to operate. The demonstration preformed many 1 and 2 hand operations such as wielding a sword and shield, throwing shurikens. They even demoed shooting a bow and arrow in which the user had to grab an arrow from his back, notch the arrow, and then pull back to fire. The camera was able to tell depth so that the more the user pulled back the more tension was on the bow. All in all this was a very impressive answer to the Wii and of coarse to Microsoft’s announcement of Project Natal. Although they didn’t say when this device looks to be farther along in develepment than Natal and should hit stores first.
The Motion Capture race is on and the contestants are all stepping up for the challange.
